After in a previous post we talked about Nvidia’s new x8000 GPUs, we have news about one if it’s latest models: GeForce 8800 Ultra. Since the launch of ATI’s new generation chipsets, like the R600, Nvidia has constantly working on response to ATI, namely the x8000 series and QuadroFX series. Even if a lot of people say the new video-card will be slower then GeForce 8800 GTS or a overcloked version of 8800GTX, the Nvidia partners which have acces to information from within the Santa Clara giant have stated that we will be in for a pleasent surprise. GeForce 8800 Ultra would be launched together with the GeForce 8600, GeForce 8500, GeForce 8400 and GeForce 8300, on April the 17th 2007.
No specification on the boards specs have been released. Some sorces, though, state that the 8800 Ultra will run at a higher frequency then the GeForce 8800 GTX, and feature DDR-4 memory instead of DDR-3.
