The Benefits Of An Eyebrow Waxing

Have you ever thought getting your eyebrows done? You should. It’s a lot easier and quicker than pulling out one little hair at a time. More and more women are trying it so why shouldn’t you?

Waxing eyebrows is a longer-lasting method of shaping brows than tweezing or threading, but the biggest turn-off for many women is the pain. It’s a fairly simple process. Rather than pulling out one stray hair at a time, nearly every hair is removed at once, a process that also strips the uppermost layer of skin cells. It can be extremely painful, particularly for those women who have never experienced a wax treatment before. The pain is only temporary and can be soothed and the benefits far outweigh the pain.

In just a few minutes you can create a complete face makeover with a simple eyebrow treatment. People are naturally drawn to the eyes as the prominent facial feature, and a properly waxed brow can highlight the eyes as a gorgeous focal point. After repeated practice, most individuals who wax their own eyebrows develop techniques that work best for them. The basic steps of using wax to shape and form eyebrows are as follows:

1. Wash your eyebrow area carefully removing all makeup, oil, and dirt that could prevent the wax from adhering properly. You can numb area with ice first if you like.

2. Figure out the desired brow you want shape by using a picture or examining brows in the mirror. Take a step back from the mirror to gain a perspective on what the look will be from several feet away. Use a brow pencil and outline the preferred shape.

3. Heat the wax to the recommended temperature for best results. Heated wax can be very dangerous if it accidentally comes in contact with the eye. Never overheat the wax! You can be seriously burnt.

4. Comb your brow carefully with a brow brush or toothbrush, following the natural shape and hair growth.

5. Use a toothpick or similar small item to part the brow along the desired shape.
6. Apply the wax carefully in the same direction as hair growth keeping the brow smooth.

7. Be sure to apply small amounts of wax to minimize dripping and maintain control as well as to avoid removing too much hair initially.

8. Press linen strips to the wax firmly and wait several seconds for the wax to adhere.

9. Pull your skin taut and remove the strip quickly, pulling it in the opposite direction of hair growth.

10. Repeat as necessary to remove all the hair for your desired shape.

11. Use tweezers to pluck stray or too-short hairs that you may have missed.

12. Clean the brow area and remove any leftover wax which could clog pores.

After you’re done waxing, never apply sunscreen, makeup, lotion, or other chemicals for at least several hours afterwards to give your skin a chance to adjust. Waxing removes the top protective layer of skin cells, and redness or puffiness may result temporarily so don’t panic. You can soothe newly waxed skin with ice, but if a harsh reaction occurs like a redness that does not subside after several hours, consult a physician about potential allergic reactions.

An eyebrow wax treatment done properly can create a stunning new look in just a few minutes. While this treatment may not be for everyone, it can help many people achieve startling results for relatively little expense, time, or trouble.

When you're done, your face will look like you just left an expensive salon.
