Aclovate Drug (medication) Information

What is Aclovate and for what Aclovate cream and ointment is used?

Aclovate is a medicine with synthetic steroid medication of the cortisone family and this medicine usually is spread on the skin to relieve certain types of itchy rashes, including psoriasis. Aclovate treats skin problems that are accompanied by itching, redness, and swelling.

When you use Aclovate, you inevitably absorb some of the medication through your skin and into the bloodstream. Too much absorption can lead to unwanted side effects elsewhere in the body. To keep this problem to a minimum, avoid using large amounts of Aclovate over large areas, and do not cover it with airtight dressings such as plastic wrap or adhesive bandages unless specifically told to by your doctor.

How to Take Aclovate cream and ointment

Take Aclovate exactly as prescribed by health care provider. Apply a thin film of Aclovate cream or ointment to the affected skin areas 2 or 3 times daily; massage gently until the medication disappears. Do not use your medicine more often than directed or for a longer period of time than ordered by your prescriber or health care professional. To do so may increase the chance of side effects.

What are the Side Effects of Aclovate -

Like other medicines, Aclovate can cause side effects. Some of the more common side effects of Aclovate include•decreased amount of urine passed

* Acne-like pimples
* allergic rash/inflammation
* burning, dryness
* infection, irritation, itching
* pale spots, prickly heat
* rash, redness, stretch marks on skin

Warnings and precautions before taking Aclovate :

* Do not let the cream or ointment get into your eyes. Avoid using the product on your face, underarms, or groin, unless the doctor tells you to.
* If your skin is inflamed or you have some other skin condition, tell your doctor. You may absorb more drug than usual.
* Do not use Aclovate to treat diaper rash or apply it in the diaper area; waterproof diapers or plastic pants can increase unwanted absorption of Aclovate.

What if Overdose of Aclovate ?

If you think you or anyone else taken overdose of Aclovate , immediately telephone your doctor or contact your local or regional Poisons Information Centre Seek medical attention immediately. You may need urgent medical attention.

What if Missed Dose of Aclovate ?

Apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to your regular schedule.

Storage Conditions for Aclovate cream and ointment :

Store at room temperature, away from heat and direct light. Do not freeze. Keep the medication away from the children. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.
