Antipyrine And Benzocaine Medicine - Uses, Dosage And Side Effects

Antipyrine and benzocaine (an-tee-PYE-reen and BEN-zoe-kane) combination is used in the ear to help relieve the pain, swelling, and congestion of some ear infections. In the U.S., this medicine is available only with your doctor's prescription. In Canada, this medicine is available without a prescription. However, your doctor may have special instructions on the proper dose for your ear problem.

Antipyrine and Benzocaine Dosage

For the Removal of Earwax, you should be applied Antipyrine and Benzocaine drop by drop into the ear 3 times daily. For the treatment of acute Otitis Media, you should be applied Antipyrine and Benzocaine drop by drop into the ear.

Uses of Antipyrine and Benzocaine

Antipyrine and benzocaine are used to reduce swelling and pain in the ear. It may also be used to help remove ear wax. This drug may be used in combination with an antibiotic for curing the infection. This medication is also used to remove excessive or impacted earwax.

Side Effects of Antipyrine and Benzocaine

Minor stinging, burning or tenderness of the ear may occur when this is first used. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, or if your symptoms do not improve within a few days, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if any of the following effects occur: irritation, rash, itching. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Warnings and precautions before taking Antipyrine and Benzocaine:

The dose of this medicine will be different for different patients. Follow your doctor's orders or the directions on the label. You should tell your doctor if you have skin disorders, skin infections, sensitivity to skin products, allergies. This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. After taken this medicine, then you may feel dizzy, or drowsiness. So you should not participate in any activities that require alertness such as driving and operate machinery.

Drug Interaction :-

No food or drug interactions have been reported. But if you are taking Antipyrine and Benzocaine with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Antipyrine and Benzocaine with the other drugs. You should tell your doctor of any nonprescription or prescription medication that you are using such as all skin products.

Overdose

No information on overdosage with Antipyrine and Benzocaine is available. But after taken Antipyrine and Benzocaine if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately.
