Chicken pox also known as varicella, is an infection consisting of the appearance of blisters all over the body. For children this can be a benign disease, but for adults this infection can lead to complicated diseases such as conjunctivitis, pneumonia, meningitis and even encephalitis. That is why chicken pox needs to be treated. Acyclovir is the most used medicine in these cases. With the help of paracetamol that combats fever, chicken pox has fewer chances to lead to complications.
Chicken pox symptoms, beside fever, are terrible itching and even insomnia. That is why people developed home remedy for chicken pox to ease the patients’ sufferance.
Brown vinegar is one of the most used ways of treating the irritation of the skin, by relieving the itch. A small cup of brown vinegar added in a bath tub should do.
An oatmeal bath is also a solution for relieving the itch. Old people consider it a natural remedy for chicken pox. Two cups of oatmeal have to be boiled into two litters of water and than when the mixture is done it will be put in a bag. While the patient is taking a bath, the bag will be added in the tub. The color of water will become turbid. It is recommended for the patient to wash with it all over the body.
In the same way as oatmeal, green peas could help relieve the irritation of the skin. The procedure is the same as for oatmeal. The green peas are boiled, and the water is poured in the bath tub.
Baking soda could also help ease the itching in chicken pox. Baking soda should be added in a glass of water. With the obtained liquid patients should be sponged over the blisters. After that patients should not feel the itching as before.
Such as soda, as an external application, honey is used. If honey is smeared all over the body chicken pox should be healed in less than three days.
A preparation of carrot and coriander has also proved its efficiency in treating chicken pox. About 100 grams of each, boiled for a while in a litter of water will guarantee beneficial effects. This soup obtained is drinkable.
Another drinkable remedy for chicken pox is herbal tea. This tea can be obtained after the preparation of many types of herbs. Usually herbs like chamomile, basil, marigold and lemon balm are used. If to these types of tea are added cinnamon, honey or lemon a sedative effect is guaranteed.
