Everywhere I look right now, I see green tea. Green tea,
green tea,and more green tea. Green tea drinks, green tea supplements, green tea extract. Heck, green tea is now even a favored ingredient in soda pop!
So, why all the fuss?
It seems that once again, we are discovering that our
ancestors knew what was good for them with their favored drinks. Scientific studies are now proving that Grandma was right when she brought you that soothing cup of tea on sick days. I still remember being curled up on Grandma's sofa, wrapped in a downy soft quilt, sipping at a warm mug of tea. Even today, a cup of tea makes me feel warm and loved.
Now, I know Grandma was not concerned about antioxidants when she brewed me that tea. She just gave me the remedy her mother and grandma gave to her, when she wasn't feeling well. There was just something about a cup of tea that always speeded me quickly on the road to recovery. My Grandma knew it, as did her grandma, and her grandma, and on and on. What she didn't know it that besides being good for what ails you, green tea packs a one-two punch when it comes to natural weight loss.
Green tea is your best choice for weight loss. The leaves are processed
less than oolong or black tea, and contain more polyphenals, specifically epigallacatechin gallate (EGCG). Whew!! Let's make this simple. Green tea is cooked less, so it has more of the good stuff your body needs. You can get some of the same benefits from oolong and black tea, but green tea packs the most powerful punch when it comes to weight loss.
Scientists are not exactly sure why, but this EGCG stuff seems to work with the natural caffeine in the tea to help people burn and lose fat faster than caffeine alone. It's even been linked to a decrease in appetite. A metabolic booster and appetite suppressant all on in green leaf! Isn't nature amazing?
The simple reason that you see green tea in so many weight loss products is--it works. Surprise, surprise! A weight loss tool with actual scientific studies proving its effectiveness!
I don't know about you, but I'm always a little concerned about popping the mystery weight loss pill. What exactly is in those things? Silica? Will sand help me lose weight? How about the infamous "Proprietary Blend" of herbs and who knows what else? Is it safe? And, amazingly enough, if you look at the ingredients of those endless bottles of miracle weight loss pills, how many of them contain green tea? Look for yourself. Makes me wonder if the only thing that works is green tea, and the rest is just fluff. Or sand.
When you are looking at ways to supplement your weight loss, go back to nature. Green tea can give you the boost you need to safely and naturally lose that extra weight.
