This week, safety concerns when it comes to driving and traffic in the sunshine state of California would be discussed. And this event is going to be held in San Diego.
According to a report, California’s top officials in the areas of traffic safety as well as transportation are going to attend this meeting. They would be not be the only people to be part of this event for other law enforcement groups and advocates as well would be joining in the discussions.
Together, they would all be working out ideas and would be discussing the state’s concerns when it comes to traffic safety. They would also be racking up their brains so as to come up with the best kind of practices that would help ensure traffic safety on the state’s roads, highways, and streets. This summit is going to be part of the Office of Traffic Safety’s (OTS) fortieth year anniversary which started out back in the year 1967 when Ronald Reagan was still governor and he approved of the California Traffic Safety Program.
Christopher J. Murphy is the director for the OTS and he does express, “We have our eye on the ball. We know without a doubt that the two most pressing issues that are impacting our ability to prevent the loss of life and injuries are seat belts and impaired driving. And we’re focusing our energies and resources on enforcement and programs that will have the greatest impact in those areas.”
The main situation behind such a summit would be when four decades ago, the state’s rate of fatality was quite high and everybody was sure concerned. Even with safe Ford Hedman headers as part of a vehicle, when people do not practice safety when it comes to driving and being on the road, the numbers of fatalities still could rise.
And this is the very reason why such a Summit is going to take place. Murphy does continue to say, “There are many programs in the works that are specifically geared toward addressing increased seat belt use, particularly among California’s teens. These young, inexperienced drivers are at great risk when behind the wheel and buckling up is one of the best safety measures they can take whether they are the driver or a passenger.
