The largest motor show in the United States, the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) is just around the corner. The excitement of auto enthusiasts is building as to what cars will be unveiled at the show. Of course, there will be concept vehicles showcased at the motor show. Aside from concept vehicles, a motor show is also a venue for car makers to showcase their production cars.
The Volkswagen of America, Inc. announced that the Jetta and Passat advertisements are finalists for the “Most Effective Overall Ad” in the non-luxury category by IAG Research, a television advertisement and product placement effectiveness measurement company. The IAG Research awards are scheduled to be given at this year’s New York International Auto Show opening press breakfast on the 4th of April at the Javits Center.
Carlsson, a German car tuning company and manufacturer that specializes in tuning Mercedes-Benz models has released their latest product on the market. The tuning company built the Carlsson CK35 based on the Mercedes-Benz C 350, which belongs to the extensive lineup of Mercedes-Benz C-Class models. The CK35 combined the luxurious and sporty attitude of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class models with the racing characteristics and success of Carlsson in the VLN Long Distance Trophy at the Nürburgring, Germany.
Audi Motorsport team has successfully qualified in the recent American Le Mans Series (ALMS) race held at the St. Petersburg circuit in Florida. At the beginning of the race, defending champion Allan McNish set the pace aboard the Audi R10 TDI with 650 horsepower. Unfortunately, he finished the qualifying race only grabbing the third spot, as two Acura LM P2 sports cars throttled enough to get the first and second spot.

SEAT, Volkswagen Group's Spanish automotive brand has showcased some of their most popular and classical vehicle models at the concurrent Techno Classica Essen in Germany. Techno Classica Essen is one of the largest classic automotive shows in the world for veteran cars, vintage cars, and classic cars from different automakers.
PUMA, the global sportswear company, announced that it will enter a boat in the 2008-2009 Volvo Ocean Race. Three boats are now officially involved and additional sponsorship announcements are expected soon. PUMA, according to sailing enthusiasts, is the recent exciting addition to the entry list. “We are thrilled to announce PUMA’s entry into the Volvo Ocean Race – one of the world’s iconic sporting events,” said Jochen Zeitz, the Chairman and CEO, PUMA AG.
Three potential buyers for the Chrysler Group were said to be finalizing bids Thursday in hopes of getting the inside track on an acquisition of the American division of DaimlerChrysler AG. No formal bids had been received but individuals familiar to the process said offers are expected from private-equity giants Blackstone Group and the Cerberus Capital Management as well as the Canadian auto supplier Magna International Inc.
The extent of my understanding of the Lincoln line of cars has historically been limited to the Towncars that have taken me to the airport and the limousines that have taken me almost nowhere, except for maybe a wayside place of unexpected fun here and there. When I took out the Lincoln MKZ for an exceptionally long drive, I was handicapped by my own inability to foster a preconceived notion, but I have to tell you, it's a pretty nice car.
