DaimlerChrysler—owner of Jeep® brand and various Jeep auto parts like Jeep brush guard and others--- has announced the beginning of its 2-day Jeep King of the Mountain Series competition which will be held at the base of the Lift 4 this coming Friday and Saturday. The Jeep King of the Mountain Series Competition for this year is in its 14th season and considered to be one of the most prestigious snow racing series in the world. This coming Friday, competitors will race head-to-head to win the title King of the Mountain plus a cash prize amounting to $450,000. A two-year lease will also be given on all Jeep Patriots and additional $20,000 bonus.
The Jeep King of the Mountain Series was once used as a downhill series and was participated by some of the greatest names in the racing history like the Olympic Gold Medalists Jean-Luc Cretier (’98 Nagano), Tommy Moe (’94 Lillehammer), Josef Polig (’92 Albertville), Pirmin Zurbriggen (’88 Calgary), Bill Johnson (’84 Sarajevo), Leonard Stock (’80 Lake Placid) and Franz Klammer (’76 Innsbruck).
For this year’s the Jeep King of the Mountain Series additional category will be added like the SkierCross and BoarderCross. Plus some of the most elite skiers and snowboarders in the world will join and will be put to the test on the Telluride’s Y-course at the base of the Lift 4.
In the first part of the course, there will be two competitors that will navigate through dual feature sections consisting of single and double rollers. The two courses came together into a single course forming the shape of a Y in the second section of the course which features qualities of snowboard-cross racing and skier-cross, banked turns, jumps and tabletops.
Each venue is different from another since the course terrain depends on the host mountain. The final stop for the Jeep King of the Mountain Series is the Telluride that is aside from the winter Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort, Taos Ski Resort and Beaver Creek Resort.
The Jeep King of the Mountain Series will begin on Thursday, March 2nd. The athlete qualifying round for both skiers and snowboarders will start at 11 am at the base of Lift 4. Popular personalities will also grace the competition so be sure to keep an eye for Americans Lindsey Jacobellis, Casey Puckett, and Nate Holland.

March 1, 2007 (Thursday) at 11:00 AM – Athlete qualifier for both Ski & Snowboard
March 2, 2007 (Friday)
• 12 to 3 PM – Expo Village opens in Mountain Plaza
• 1:30 PM – Jeep King of the Mountain Ski Championships
• 3:00 to 7:00 PM – Beer Garden and DJ Spinning in Mountain Plaza
• 6:30 PM – Athlete Intros in Mountain Plaza, Torchlight Parade and Fireworks display for the public
March 3, 2007 (Saturday)
• 12 to 3 PM – Expo Village opens in Mountain Plaza
• 1:30 PM – Jeep King of the Mountain Snowboard Championships
• 3 to 5 PM – Beer Garden in Mountain Plaza
• 3:30 PM – Free Donavon Concert in Mountain Plaza
