For the past 45 years Volkswagen has been calling its vehicles that are not vans but have extra-large cargo areas “Variant”. Volkswagen has been able to sell more than 6.1 million of them worldwide.
Volkswagen has created another Variant, the Golf Variant which will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. It is also scheduled to hit the European market this summer.
The Golf Variant is a spacious wagon as it is variable and being supplemented by the addition of a third and fourth body version, the versions of the Golf Variant are as follows:
• Version 1 – the classic Golf, the ‘icon’, including the GT, GTI and R32
• Version 2 – the Golf Plus and CrossGolf
• Version 3 – the Jetta
• Version 4 – the Golf Variant
Special Features of the Golf Variants:
1,550 liters cargo space: with the installation of the cargo net even with five occupants on board the Golf Variant can accommodate 690 liters of cargo an dup to the load sill at the window level it can carry 505 liters of cargo. And with the rear seat is folded the full interior height or 0.83 meters can be utilized store up to 1,550 liters of cargo.
Flat Folding Area: with the rear bench set folded the continuously flat cargo area of the new Golf Variant measures 1.74 meters up to the driver’s back seat. There are also additional cargo compartment found under the cargo area and in its side rim. In terms of payload capacity the Golf Variant has lots to offer with 607 to 629 kilograms capacity depending on the engine version.
Design: The Golf Variants reflects the synthesis of new and classic stylish elements. The most prominent design feature of Golf Variants is the insignia radiator grille.
One Gasoline and Two Diesel Engines: Golf Variants are powered by 105 PS TDI with 5.2 liters per 100 kilometers fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of 137 g/km

Panorama Sunroof: Pertains to the transparent sunroof which measures 1.36 meters long and 0.87 meter wide available on all versions of the Golf Variants.
