Nissan To Lose Keys For Next Generation Altima

Nissan North America Inc. recently announced that they will be undertaking a unique promotional campaign for the Next Generation Nissan Altima. The company announced that they will be targeting trendsetters in big cities all over the country frequenting local nightlife spots.

The promotional campaign is dubbed as the “Lost Keys” program. This involves “leaving” a set of keys on different popular nightspots in major cities of the United States. The set of keys will be composed of a traditional car key and a couple of house keys. Upon finding the “lost” keys, the individual will find the key chain bearing the message: “If found, please do not return. My Next Generation Nissan Altima has Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition, and I no longer need these.”

To make the program even more interactive, Nissan will be partnering with Vibe magazine. Those who will find the dropped keys will be invited to visit www.AltimaKeys.com where they can redeem their reward for finding the “lost” keys. They can either opt for a gas gift card or a six-month subscription for Vibe magazine.

The promotional campaign is supposed to highlight the newest feature of the Nissan Altima - an Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition. This feature allows drivers to enter and to start the Next Generation Altima with just a push of a button.

Michelle Erwin, the Senior Manager for Nissan Marketing Communications, explained the concept and the procedure of the promotional campaign. “Using the perfect mix of grassroots guerilla marketing and new media outreach, we think the ‘Lost Keys’ program showcases the Next Generation Nissan Altima in a unique way. There will be 20,000 sets of keys dropped in targeted hot spots around the country, and we hope this widespread effort will resonate with an important audience for us,” Erwin expresses.

The keys will play a major role in the promotion of the new Nissan Altima as much as a Volvo oil filter plays a major role in keeping the engine clean. The keys were already “dropped” on March 18 and the rest of the keys will also be left on popular nightspots until the 31st of this month.

More than 50 venues were selected for the mission from different major cities including: New York City, New York; Chicago, Illinois; Atlanta, Georgia; Miami, Florida; Dallas, Texas; Los Angeles, California; and Washington, District of Columbia.

The Next Generation Altima, aside from the Push Button Ignition is equipped with other cool features which include a Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone System, a Bose®-developed audio system with nine speakers, dual-zone automatic temperature control, a RearView Monitor and a voice activated touch-screen navigation system with real time traffic updates. Its powerplant can either be a 3.5-liter V6 or a 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine. Both of which are tuned to provide adequate power.
