Lithium ion batteries are going to be quite useful in the future. At present, such an innovation has been very much welcomed by the auto industry. After all, it does pose to be quite a very practical answer when it comes to creating vehicles that would have zero emissions and would be very friendly to the environment.
The Toyota Motor Corporation is sure taking the lead when it comes to lithium ion batteries. It has been announced through the AIADA newsletter that this car maker’s chief executive officer has already confirmed the fact that they are already in the progress of creating such a kind of battery. Katsuaki Watanabe, the Toyota CEO, did mention to Business Week that the lithium ion batteries that they would be able to develop would be actually used for the third generation hybrid vehicles of the company.
The Toyota CEO did also further confess that the new breed of vehicles would be revealed and introduced to the mass automotive public sometime soon. He is projecting that perhaps it would come around late next year or maybe early 2009.
So why develop lithium ion batteries for vehicles? Such a type of has already been in use for years already in the realm of consumer electronics and through that, Toyota has surely been inspired to develop these and make it into a good source of power for vehicles and automobiles. After all, lithium ion batteries are lighters and do acquire more power compared to other batteries like nickel metal hydride.
“We are now aiming at reducing, by half, both size and cost of the third-generation hybrid system,” Watanabe continues. And he also did further boast that once their development of the new lithium ion batteries and the third generation hybrid vehicles are set, these products of theirs would surely be a way to show the world that steps towards keeping the environment clean can be very much possible. Plus, it would also mean that even the most ordinary consumers in the market would be able to appreciate, purchase, and own these hybrid vehicles.
Toyota also did mention that they would also be sending in more hybrid vehicles in the market so as to keep their sales up. Maybe if they would also keep on creating more parts like bumpers, they would be able to bump out other competition like the company that creates those Honda bumpers.
