Europe’s number one station wagon is adding a new variant - a third generation version of the Volkswagen Golf. The newest Golf Variant is set to make its world premiere at the International Geneva Motor Show which would be happening this month.
The VW Golf Variant epitomizes an ideal blend of style and dimensions. Its formula for success includes outstanding cargo space dimensions mated to sensible exterior dimensions. When the cargo net is installed, the car can carry up to 690 liters of cargo even if five occupants are already on board. Approximately 1,550 liters of cargo can be stowed in the 4.56-meter long car. In addition, when the rear bench seat is folded, the full interior height can be utilized.
Volkswagen’s pool of engineers also worked on synthesizing classic design elements to come up with a more fascinating third variant of Golf. The rear portion of the vehicle mirrors the new side of Golf. It flaunts a set of taillights that emphasizes the large load width of the hatch opening. Additionally, half of each taillight is integral to the rear hatch on other body versions of the model series but in the Golf Variant they are integrated completely in the fender.
The new Golf Variant offers one gasoline and two diesel engine options mated to its Volkswagen cold air intake. The gasoline engine produces an output of 75 kW / 102 PS. The two diesels, on the other hand, generate an even higher power range with 77 kW / 105 PS and 103 kW / 140 PS. These engines are among the most economical engines ever manufactured. Despite the Volkswagen Golf Variant’s hefty 320 Nm maximum torque, the 2.0 TDI speeds up to 205 km/h but only consumes 5.6 liters fuel for every 100 kilometers.
The Volkswagen Golf Variant will be introduced to the market this summer. However, it will be first unveiled in Europe before it sets its wheels in the North American land.
